Volunteers Make a Difference
Each year the club funds three college scholarships, which are awarded to local high school senior girls. one of our scholarships in memory of a member who passed in 2009, the Mary Cardinale Memorial Scholarship. Our club provides scholarship each year to enable two children to attend the Town of Somers Summer Camp. The recipients participate in enrichment activities and optional trips during the six week summer camp session.
Our club continues its support of the Putnam Women’s Resource Center. We provide donations of toiletries and household items, and school supplies through out the year.
Throughout the year, we donate to Friends of Karen, a local organization that supports the families of seriously ill children.
At the holiday session, the club creates gift bags of basic necessities for A-Home residents. They are distributed to low income Westchester female residents. A-Home works to keep single families and handicapped women in their homes.
Members work with the social workers in Somers and North Salem to provide holiday gifts for families in need.
The club supports the Katonah Community Center with food collections throughout the year. We purchase and distribute pajamas and socks in the winter. Several members volunteer their time in different capacities.
We work regularly with Support Connection in Yorktown Heights, NY. Support Connection provides emotional , social and educational support services to women affected by breast and ovarian cancer.
